Is Common Sense Really Dying?

Some days it feels like common sense is on the endangered list right next to panda bears. The difference? Panda bears aren’t running headfirst into traffic — we are, when we ignore facts and reality.

I’m just a single dad watching the world act like common sense is optional. If you’ve ever thought, “Am I the crazy one, or is everyone else losing it?” you’re not alone.

Here’s the thing: you don’t need a research paper to know the stove is hot. Common sense tells you not to touch it. Without it, we’re stuck with rules that sound good in theory but collapse in real life — like using a treadmill as a $700 clothes rack.

This isn’t about politics; it’s about everyday life. Common sense says:

  • Save money before splurging.
  • Don’t argue with strangers on Facebook at 3 a.m.
  • And yes, kids probably shouldn’t eat candy for breakfast.

When we follow common sense, decisions get easier, families run smoother, and communities get stronger. So the next time you face a choice, just ask: “What’s the common-sense move?” Odds are, it’s also the right one.

Because facts can bend and spin, but common sense is the compass that keeps us on track.
